The GED testing schedule for 2010 is listed below. Space is limited to 12
students per testing night. Sign-ups can be made in the Counseling Center.

NOTE: The GED preparation class (optional) is open during the spring, summer,
and fall semesters (fee: $67.00). For an appointment
call 763-7748.
INFORMATION FOR GED EXAMINATIONS
- A payment of $70.00 is required for the full battery of tests at the time
of scheduling.
A fee of $15.00 is charged each time one or more tests must be retaken. Pay
at the College Business Office; be sure to save your receipt.
- Allow approximately 45 minutes for registering and required paper work.
- A valid picture ID and your receipt must be presented before entering the
testing room.
- No companions or children will be allowed in the testing room.
- Pagers and cell phones must be tuned off while in the testing room.
- Casio calculator fx-260 will be issued for Part I of Math test. No other
calculators, notes, or help with the test are permitted.
- No food or drink will be allowed during testing.
(Medical exceptions require physicians note.)
- Leaving your desk (except for scheduled breaks), talking, excessive
coughing, or other disruptive behavior will result in dismissal from the room, and you will have
to reschedule testing for a later time.
- To pass the GED examination, you must score a minimum of 410 on each of
the five parts in the battery, but the total of all five must equal 2250 or more
(average of 450 on each).
- If you score less than 410 on any one test, we recommend you enroll in
the Taft College GED Preparation Class or secure other tutoring. Retest scores are
usually lower without additional training.
- Any GED tests taken before January 1, 2002 have been disallowed. Scores
of tests taken since January 1, 2002 must be given to us before taking additional
tests.
- The GED test battery consists of the following five parts:

NOTE: Your test results will be mailed to you by the State GED office in
approximately one month. The California Department of Education considers GED
records to be CONFIDENTIAL.
TESTING GUIDELINES FOR ON-CAMPUS GED TESTING
- All demographic and registration related documentation must be
submitted and completed five working days prior to testing.
- All GED Testing cost and/or payment authorization documents must
be submitted five working days prior to testing.
- The cost for taking the GED Test will be $70.00, and the cost for
each retested section will be $15.00.
- All individuals taking the GED Test must provide a valid picture
ID and receipt for cost and/or payment authorization documents at the
time(s) testing is offered.
- All individuals taking the GED Test must call in 24 hrs prior to
the test date to confirm attendance.
- All individuals taking a GED retest must acknowledge at time of
registration what portions of the test they will be retaking.
- Individuals taking the GED Test are expected to complete the
testing during the regularly scheduled test dates (two consecutive
nights or all day Saturday). If testing can not be completed during the
regularly scheduled test dates, reschedule for testing at a later date.
